Chantelle Houghton: a nicely dressed salad!

There are not many people who would relish donning a dress made completely out of lettuce leaves regardless of the campaign. But Chantelle Houghton seemed eager to dress up as a side salad and happily posed in her leafy vegetable outfit in Covent Garden earlier today. The Ultimate Big Brother star was all tousled up to promote PETA’s vegetarian and vegan starter kits – to try and encourage people to choose vegetables over meat.

The cause is one close to her heart as Chantelle is a vegetarian and she seemed eager to get into her costume. Chantelle tweeted: ‘@peta on way to PETA photocall, can't wait to wear the dress! Excited! X’. Later she tweeted a picture of herself in the green outfit and posted: ‘My PETA campaign is to raise awareness for people to become vegetarians/vegans! They have amazing starter packs! Stop cruelty to animals x’.

The charity claims that for every person that turns vegetarian 100 animals are spared a year. The glamour model, who is currently dating Crimewatch presenter Rav Wilding, has been busy starting her own business in recent months and is preparing for the opening of her new shop in April.

Blake Lively in ballet shoe heels and ruffles at Chanel dinner

It appears as though rising style icon Blake Lively is jumping on the bandwagon, and taking fashion inspiration from the ballet world. The Gossip Girl attended a dinner hosted by Chanel in her honour in New York last night, wearing a pair of ballet shoe-inspired heels.

The 23-year-old's white satin heels, by Christian Louboutin, resembled the pointe shoes worn by prima ballerinas, complete with square block toe. Designer shoe-loving Blake chose the Christian Louboutin heels over shoes by Chanel for the event, just a few weeks after Mr Louboutin named one of his coveted designs after her. As the guest of honour, perhaps Blake intended to do double duty as the evening's entertainment and perform a pirouette or two around the dining room at La Grenouille, where the glitzy affair was held.

The Gossip Girl paid tribute to Chanel in a white ruffled organza dress from the designer's 2009 haute couture collection. The actress, who was named as the face of Chanel Mademoiselle handbags in January carried a white quilted bag from the collection and  a pair of large emerald earrings. As she left the dinner Blake wrapped up in a black overcoat. The blonde beauty surprised many this week when she revealed that despite her close association with the brand, she would not be attending Chanel's autumn/winter show at Paris Fashion Week.

Megan Fox squeezes into stepson's t-shirts

Megan Fox could wear a paper bag and look good in it thanks to her enviable physique and smouldering looks. But the actress seems to have a penchant for wearing her eight-year-old stepson's clothing and has been pictured wearing his tiny T-shirts. The 24-year-old has been pictured wearing a green Defender of the Universe shirt which showed off her toned midriff. But the shirt belonged to husband, Brian Austin Green's little boy.

She has also been spotted wearing a white Star Wars T-shirt which, while fitted to show off Megan's curves, is positively baggy on her stepson. Although she was axed from the latest Transformers movie and replaced by Rosie Huntington-Whitely, it is not thought that her recycling Kassius' t-shirts is for money-saving purposes. Rather, Megan has always been a fan of the casual look, going for jeans and tops instead of pretty daytime dresses.

Glee diva Amber Riley gets glam

Glee’s Amber Riley flies the flag for curvy women in her first fashion campaign. The actress proudly put her shapely figure on show in a dazzling photo spread for Essence magazine’s Black Women in Hollywood issue. The 24-year-old, who plays feisty Mercedes Jones in the hit TV show, looks a picture of confidence as she poses in a sparkling silver sequinned dress and bright pink peep-toe heels.

In a second frame, she wears a beaded corset, bolero, tight black trousers and Christian Louboutin heels - which she teams with plenty of attitude. Riley’s inspiration for the shoot was Queen of Funk, Chaka Khan. “She's my favourite artist,” says Riley of the singer, best known for her hit I'm Every Woman. “Not only because her voice is amazing she's just creative. She had a different style from anybody who was in her era. She brought a sexiness to R&B. It wasn't like sexiness in stilettos, it was just the confidence that she has.”

Essence is even launching a Facebook campaign calling for Glee to do a full episode devoted to Khan.  Of her first foray into the fashion world, Amber says: “It was a lot of fun, I wish it wasn't ending.” It has already been a big year for Riley, who received an NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People) Image Award nomination for her portrayal of Mercedes. We’ll see what’s up next.
